Monster Matador Tango of the Matadors #1

Writer: Steven Prince
Artists: Fabio Alves (Artist), Alex Zief (Colorist)

Hot off the heels of the epic first volume, Creator Steven Prince brings his cult-hit, MONSTER MATADOR, mainstream. It all begins with a KickStarter campaign for an action-packed 3-issue series – MONSTER MATADOR: TANGO OF THE MATADORS

“Almost immediately I found myself laughing and becoming immersed into this “not your ordinary” comic book,” says Jason Bennett, POPCULT HQ.

Volume 1 introduced readers to a delightfully demented universe saw Matador Ramon Alejandro Estévez-Guerrero take up his sword and cape against the monsters that turned the world into a lawless, Kaiju-infested hellscape.

“I’ve always seen Monster Matador as the story of a man who is trying his best to make a shitty world better so his daughter can have a bright future,” says Prince. “The twist is that he does it by kicking all sorts of ass, from kaiju monsters to white supremacist cannibal rednecks. It’s like MAD MAX meets GODZILLA by way of ALL ABOUT AH-LONG.”

With Tango of the Matadors, Prince continues to bring his unique brand of mayhem and absurdity to the printed page, presenting the Monster Matador with his greatest challenge yet, the VOLAGANTE.

“As one character casually mentions, she’s the Queen Bitch,” Prince says. “A Kaiju fly with thousands of children at her beck and call. She’s brought terror and death to the people of Guatemala since the monsters appeared 5 years prior. Up until now the Matador has fought one monster at a time… let’s see how he does against thousands!”

Joining Prince is artist Fabio Alves, who most recently drew the critically acclaimed Action Lab: Danger Zone release, BANJAX, and colorist Alex Zief. Says Prince, “These two bring the comic to a whole new level - the Monster Matador has never looked so good. Talk about bringing sexy back. Ladies are going to love him and men are going to want to be him.”

Alves adds, “After completing BANJAX with Rylend Grant I was looking for a project with the same raw energy and ass-kicking story. When Grant turned me on to MONSTER MATADOR, I knew I had found it.”

In addition to the Kickstarter, Prince is also developing an animated series based on the comic and has produced a minute long trailer with Animate For the Cel of It. And like any good animated series, it has a kick-ass theme song – Fire/Flame

The song, the first single from the band METAL ANGYLS, was composed by Barry J. Neely with lyrics by Steven Prince.

Monster Matador: Tango of the Matadors #1 is available now!

Matador has for years been my absolute favorite comic out there. It plays like Danny McBride and Jody Hill made a Santo movie and then gleefully peed on it. It’s completely and utterly bonkers, so goddamn smart and funny. I honestly can’t recommend it enough.”
